Project Overview

The Graced Hands of Compassion (GHC) Foundation connects hearts across borders, uplifting vulnerable children, orphans, and the elderly in Kenya and the US. Through education, charity visits, and emotional support, the foundation nurtures hope and empowers lives, aligning its work with Sustainable Development Goals. The website was created as a bridge for global supporters, making it simple to donate, volunteer, and engage with their mission, fostering meaningful connections and positive change.

Challenges & Approach

The site needed to be visually engaging, responsive, and capable of handling multiple donation channels securely while telling the foundation's story effectively. Hosting & Analytics

Deployed on Vercel with custom domain management and integrated analytics to track performance and engagement.

Portfolio Strategy

Strategic Portfolio Redesign Delivers 50% Remote Job Placement Success

Senior Portfolio & Software Developer

Executive Summary

At Careers Without Borders, clients often struggled to translate their professional experience into compelling digital portfolios that could impress remote recruiters. I redesigned the portfolio development process, creating over 100 tailored, interactive job story timelines using Wix, ChatGPT, and supporting tools, optimising both layout and content generation. By integrating strategic prompts, structured client intake forms, and workflow automation, over 50% of clients secured remote positions, while the improved service also generated significant revenue for the company. This project demonstrates my ability to combine technical expertise, strategic thinking, and creative design to deliver tangible outcomes.

Context and Challenge

Context

Careers Without Borders provides professional services to empower remote job seekers with high-quality CVs, portfolios, and career guidance. In my role as Senior Portfolio & Software Developer, I led the portfolio department, designing and delivering interactive portfolios that act as a professional story timeline, helping clients present their experience in a compelling way.

Challenge

Many clients were not converting interviews into job offers because their online portfolios lacked structure, strategic storytelling, and engaging visuals. The existing process was inefficient, with inconsistent layouts and repetitive manual content generation, which limited scalability and reduced overall client success rates.

My Strategic Approach

1
Diagnosis and Strategy

Analysed existing portfolios and client outcomes to identify gaps in storytelling, layout design, and content workflow. This informed a comprehensive redesign plan to enhance clarity, engagement, and recruiter appeal.

2
Execution and Collaboration

Leveraged Wix, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and ReactJS to build highly customisable portfolios. Created structured client intake forms, integrated Google Sheets to store and manage client data, and used ChatGPT for dynamic content generation.

3
Optimisation and Impact Measurement

Refined prompts and portfolio layouts, monitored client success metrics, and iterated designs based on feedback, ensuring a consistently high standard and measurable improvement in job placement outcomes.

Results and Impact

Quantifiable Outcomes
  • Designed and delivered over 100 professional portfolios for remote job seekers
  • Achieved 50% remote job placement rate for clients using portfolios alongside CVs and coaching services
  • Streamlined portfolio creation process, increasing workflow efficiency by 20%
  • Contributed to significant revenue growth for Careers Without Borders through enhanced service offerings

  • Enhanced client branding through visually compelling, interactive portfolio designs
  • Improved recruiter engagement by presenting professional experience as clear job story timelines
  • Increased team collaboration and efficiency through structured workflows and automation

Key Takeaway & Strategic Insight

Designing portfolios that tell a compelling professional story not only increases remote job placement rates but also strengthens the client-company relationship. Structured workflows combined with creative content generation tools amplify both efficiency and impact, providing scalable value for remote career services.

Conclusion

This project illustrates my ability to blend technical proficiency, strategic thinking, and design creativity to deliver measurable outcomes for clients and the business. By transforming portfolio development into a structured, high-impact service, I demonstrated both professional leadership and a results-driven approach essential for remote work success.
